Couple of days ago, all of sudden I had a craving for apple crumble. I am sure many of us have had these sudden urges for a particular dish for no rhyme or reason. So bad was my craving that I decided I just had to make some and have it that very day. I had some of the basic ingredients at home like oatmeal, flour, cinnamon, brown sugar and margarine. So all I did was pick up a few apples on my way back from work. This recipe is amazingly easy to do. I only had to wait for 45 minutes from the start of the preparation to putting first spoonful in my mouth! As most of the ingredients are pretty common and almost always there in the house, this is also a great dessert to whip up and serve to unexpected dinner guests. You can serve it with a dollop of whipped cream if you are feeling indulgent. A scoop of good vanilla or caramel or butterscotch ice cream also goes really well with it. I like to have my apple crumble for breakfast with some plain yogurt. Again a very yummy combination. If you live in a place where you can get some raspberries just mix a few of the whole berries with the apple to get an Apple Crumble with a twist. I got this recipe from the Quaker Oats website. They have some great easy and yummy recipes that you can check out.
Easy Apple Crumble
Serves 6 - 8

Ingredients
For the filling:
Apple - 3 cored, peeled and thinly sliced
Cinnamon powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Plain sugar - 1/4 cup
Corn Powder - 1 tablespoon
Orange Juice - 3 tablespoon
Raspberry (optional) - 15-20
Vanilla - 1 teaspoon
For the topping:
Oatmeal - 3/4 cup ( I use Quaker quick cooking oats)
Flour - 1/4 cup
Brown Sugar - 1/2 cup (packed)
Cinnamon powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Margarine or Butter - 3 tablespoon (frozen cut into small pieces)
1. Heat the oven to 400 degree F.
2. Mix all the filling ingredients together and spoon into a baking dish.
3. Mix all the topping ingredients in a manner that the mixture resembles coarse crumb. Make sure you use only your finger tips to mix the ingredients together as too much heat would melt the butter/margarine.
4. Spoon the topping over the apple mixture to cover it well.
5. Bake for 30 minutes or so until the top is nicely browned and the sides are bubbling.
6. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Enjoy!!!!!
